Ulrich to Serve as Director of Technology for the District

Travis Ulrich

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 16, 2022

PETAL, Miss. – During its meeting on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, the Petal School District Board of Trustees approved the promotion of Travis Ulrich to director of technology, effective July 1, 2022. He has served as interim director since March and replaces Ryan Jensen, who accepted a position with a non-education business.

Prior to his role as interim director, Ulrich served as network administrator for the district for the last two years. His career with Petal Schools began in 2009 as a student during his senior year at Petal High when he started working part-time as a network technician. That role continued through college, and upon graduation, he obtained full-time employment as a network technician at Petal Upper Elementary.

“I have been fortunate to have spent my entire career working for the Petal School District,” said Ulrich. “It almost feels like I never graduated! Most students are on the 12-year plan, but I’m going on 25 years and counting!”

Ulrich says we live in an exciting time where, second to teachers, technology plays one of the most important roles in our children's education.

“We exist to serve the students and teachers of the district, and I couldn’t be more proud to have their confidence in leading this department,” Ulrich said. “I believe we are truly unique in not only our exceptionalism as a district, but our ability to communicate as colleagues. I have spoken with other directors across the state, and they could only dream of the culture that we possess here at the Petal School District. With that said, I am blessed, proud and honored to stand before the district as the director of technology.”

Ulrich earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing in 2014 from The University of Southern Mississippi.

“We are very excited for Mr. Ulrich to serve as director of technology,” said Matt Dillon, Petal School District superintendent. “He has played an integral role in our success over the years and based on his skill set and internal knowledge of our district, I am confident he will further enhance what our great team is already doing.”
