Petal Elementary School Principal Kelli Brown serves celebration cake to teachers Jennifer Delatte and Sue Lovett. For the first time, the school received an “A” (Formerly “Star”) rating on the Mississippi Department of Education’s Accountability Scale. The teachers and staff have worked extremely hard over the past two years to increase the school’s rating which is a reflection of academic success. The cooperative efforts of parents, students and staff paid off with the earned “A”!
Petal Primary School also received the “A” rating based on the performance of students at Petal Elementary. Students in grades K-2 do not participate in the state testing program and are automatically linked to the rating of the next grade-level school. PPS students and staff proudly display their first-ever “Star” and “A” rating.
Two other Petal schools also earned “A” ratings for 2012. For the fourth year in a row, Petal High School achieved the top rating and Petal Middle School repeated the “Star – A” status for the third year.
