The Petal School District welcomed 35 new teachers to the 2015-2016 school year beginning with two days of new employee orientation. Teachers were treated to a breakfast sponsored by the Petal Education Foundation on Thursday, July 30th and then learned about the districts history, culture and expectations from Superintendent Dr. Matt Dillon and Director of Human Resources and Federal Programs Margaret Tynes. Andy Schoggin, Chief Operations Officer, along with Assistant Superintendents Stephanie Brewer and Dr. Dede Smith conducted training on instructional initiatives. After enjoying lunch at Carterville Baptist Church the new support staff employees joined the teachers in a session to learn about the district’s Mission and Core Beliefs and the benefits offered through the district. On Friday, June 31, the teachers began the day with breakfast at First Baptist Church of Petal and then participated in a tour of each school in the district. After school administrators joined them for lunch at Macedonia Baptist Church, the teachers participated in training sessions at their individual school sites.
