Petal School District employees helped meet a community need last week by participating in a food collection blitz for the Petal Children’s Task Force. The PCTF works closely with the school district help families in the Petal School District who are in need of assistance. Margaret Tynes, Director of Human Resources and Federal Programs, became aware of the critical need for non-perishable food from Demaris Lee, Director of the PCTF. According to Lee, the Task Force was out of canned corn and green beans and was in need of several other items. Tynes emailed the employees of the school district explaining the need and challenged them to donate 500 cans of food within five days. The employees more than met that challenge! By Friday, August 21st the generous staff of the Petal School District had donated 2,907 items of food to the Task Force! Shown at the Task Force building with the donated food are (left to right) Margaret Tynes; Chandler Farris and Hunter Sylvest from the Petal School District Maintenance Department; Demaris Lee; and Aaron Hamil also from the Petal School District Maintenance Department.
