The Petal School District Education Foundation was founded in 1987 with the future in mind.  Public schools in the United States are expected to do a better job educating our children with less money.
Many public school systems have turned to not-for-profit foundations to help bridge the gap for enhanced educational opportunities.  Petal is proud to have one of the first Education Foundations in the state of Mississippi.  A gift to the Foundation ensures the donor will pass on an enduring legacy to future generations of our community's children.
The Petal School District Education Foundation is guided by a seventeen member Board of Directors who are committed to the future of our children.  The School District Superintendent and the Foundation Director are standing non-voting members of the board.  The Foundation is incorporated for the sole purpose of generating funds and distributing them where they will do the greatest good for the children of the Petal School District.
The primary purpose of the Petal School District Education Foundation is to enhance the quality of education in the Petal School District by providing private funding to have a positive impact on our public schools.
The goal of the Foundation is to enhance the quality of education in the Petal School District by:
  • Rewarding students by providing scholarships to Petal High School graduates.
  • Encouraging innovative programs in the classroom by offering mini-grants for teachers.
  • Providing assistance to early childhood/early program.
  • Supporting the fine arts and athletic program.
