Petal, Miss. – Keshia Coulter, Digital Media Technology Teacher at Petal High School, was recently honored at the Keesler Federal Credit Union Educator Impact Awards Luncheon as a recipient of this year’s Educator Impact Award. Mrs. Coulter is part of the inaugural group of educators recognized for their strong commitment to student success and excellence in education.
The Educator Impact Award celebrates teachers who go above and beyond to make a meaningful difference in the lives of their students. This year, educators from across Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama were selected for the honor, highlighting the regional impact of outstanding teaching throughout the area. As a member of the first cohort of honorees, Mrs. Coulter was recognized for her dedication to providing innovative, high-quality instruction and for preparing students for success beyond the classroom.
Mrs. Coulter brings real-world experience into her classroom each day, giving students hands-on opportunities to develop practical skills in digital media. Through project-based learning and authentic experiences, students gain valuable knowledge in areas such as content creation, design, and digital communication. Her focus on real-world application helps prepare students for both college and career pathways while building confidence, creativity, and professionalism.
“Mrs. Coulter represents the very best of what we want for our students at Petal High School,” said Dr. Tyler Watkins, principal of Petal High School. “She challenges her students to think creatively, work collaboratively, and produce at a professional level. We are incredibly proud to see her recognized with the Educator Impact Award.”
