Mr. Donald Bell

Donald Bell is in his 5th year as a band director and is excited to continue his 2nd year with the Petal School District. He began his career with the Wayne County School District where he taught band for 3 years. Before graduating college, Mr. Bell student taught at two wonderful band programs under great leadership in the South Jones and Petal band programs and taught private lessons for brass students.

 Donald Bell is from Laurel, MS and graduated at the top of his class from Northeast Jones High School in 2008. After high school, he attended Jones County Junior College where he graduated with honors and received his Associates Degree in the Arts from in 2011. He then attended the University of Southern Mississippi where he graduated summa cum laude to receive is Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education in 2013. While attending Southern Miss, he auditioned and was a member of the Horn Ensemble, Brass Ensemble, Orchestra, and Wind Ensemble as well as various other chamber ensembles.

 In 2010, Mr. Bell was a member of the Forte Drum and Bugle Corps in its inaugural year. In 2011, he returned to Forte Drum and Bugle Corps as the Horn Sergeant for his second season with the organization. During these two years, the corps was a top 10 finalist at the Drum Corps International Open Class World Championships. Currently, Mr. Bell is in his third year as a member the Brass Staff with Southwind Drum and Bugle Corps where he is the Lead Mellophone Instructor.

 Mr. Bell currently resides in Laurel, MS with his wife Amber and their dog, Honey.
