Mr. Greg Howard

Hello students and parents!

I graduated from Petal High School in 2005. As a student, I enjoyed my History and English classes the most, and my teachers here inspired me to eventually become a teacher myself!

My bachelor's degree is from Southern Miss, where I studied Political Science and minored in English composition. While working at a coffee shop in Hattiesburg, I met my now-wife, Stephanie. I am very happy to say I am married to my best friend. After spending some time working in other careers, I entered the Mississippi Teacher Corps program at Ole Miss, which allowed me to earn an educator's license and MA in Education while teaching my first two years in the Jackson area.

I have taught in the history department at PHS since 2017, and achieved National Board Certification in 2019. In 2022, I was named the state's James Madison Fellow, which has allowed me to start a second MA degree in History and Government through the University of Nebraska's Omaha campus.

Please reach out to me if I can help you in any way or if you have any questions about my classes! Canvas is the best source of study content, daily assignments, and makeup work.
