Mrs. Clay

Hello, and thank you for welcoming me to Petal High School!

This is my second year here at Petal High School, but I have been teaching science for what will now be six years. Prior to and outside of teaching I was the horticulurist for the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas Parks and Recreation Department, a bread baker (that was awesome!), and a primary consultant for the Illinois State Board of Education. I began working in education as a reading specialist assistant and fell in love with the profession. Since then I have earned my Masters degree in education and have taught science in both Kentucky and Illinois.

My hobbies include cooking (and eating), travelling, jogging, gardening, reading, home reno projects, bad dancing, and working the New York Times crossword puzzles (I have never been able to complete the Sunday edition, but one day...I will!).

I am serious about learning, and we will do so much good learning, but I am also committed to building relationships with my students and their families. It is my goal to build an uplifting and motivating environment for the begninnings of life long learning. Bring your curiosity, your creativity, and your best effort to class; we are going to have an awesome 2018-2019 school year!

All the best,

Mrs. Clay
