Mrs. Amy Farris

This is my fifteenth year to teach in Petal.  I taught third grade for two years before I had the pleasure of being a stay at home mom.  I stayed at home for nine years while my three children were little. Since then, I have taught kindergarten, first grade, and third grade.  I have taught all subjects and have been self-contained.  I am currently teaching math and science. 

 

I graduated from USM in 1997 with my bachelor's degree in elementary education.  I later returned to USM in 2011 and earned my master's degree.  I received my National Board certification in 2014.

 

I was born in Mobile, AL, but spent my childhood in Houston, Texas.  When my father changed careers, we moved quite often, but stayed in Mississippi and Alabama.  I have been married to my husband, Mark Farris for 23 years.  He is the pastor of Summit Church.  Mark and I have three amazing children.  Cole is 21 and is a junior at Mississppi State University majoring in Wildlife, Fisheries, and Aquaculture.  He enjoys being outdoors and loves to hunt and fish.  Molly is 19 and is a sophomore at Baylor University studying journalism and public relations. She enjoys playing basketball and traveling.  Spencer is 15 and is in the 10th grade a Petal High School.  He loves to play football and is on the bowling team and tennis team as well.  My family LOVES Walt Disney World!!

3. I am a huge coffee fan!  I only drink decaf. but just love the flavor of coffee.

5. My favorite food is pasta and I love eating at Tabella and The Olive Garden.
