    Welcome to 6th Grade

English Language Arts and Social Studies

    ELA SS PLC

We are so excited to have the opportunity to get to know your child this year. We will spend the year digging into the past to make connections with how our culture today was greatly impacted by those of past civilizations. We will be looking at four features with each new civilization we learn about this year: Social Classes, Writing (Art and Architecture), Religion (both polytheistic and monotheistic), and Cities (Government).

Each day we will read, write, and work on speaking skills. Mini lessons will be used to reteach skills not understood and cover new standards for the sixth grade: reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, history, speaking, and listening. We will further develop the four types of writings your child has learned in previous years: Narrative, Literary Analysis, Argument, and Informative.
