Welcome to 3rd Grade!
I'm a language arts teacher, and I'm thrilled about getting to know your child better! This year will be full of new experiences, critical thinking, challenges, friendships, discoveries, and joy. We will have a blast!
♥ I grew up in Columbia, Tennessee and went to college in Searcy, Arkansas. I got my first teaching job there and fell in love with 3rd grade! My husband and I moved to Hattiesburg so he could attend graduate school at the University of Southern Mississippi. I love teaching at Petal Elementary School, and I look forward to another wonderful year!
♥ My wonderful husband's name is Jon, and we enjoy reading, picnics, thrifting, traveling, being outside, cooking, and teaching the kids at our church. We met in college while performing together in a children's theatre troupe. He and I share a love for children, telling stories, and making people laugh.
♥ I believe that in order to teach reading and writing effectively, you must be a reader and writer yourself. I am excited to have the opportunity to pass along my love of literacy to my students. I aim to help each one become a confident reader, a creative writer and a lifelong learner.
I graduated from Harding University with a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education (P-4) as well as a master's degree in Reading (K-12). I have been blessed with some wonderful educational opportunities, but I have definitely learned the most while teaching in the classroom. I learn from my students just as much as they learn from me, if not more!
