Mrs. Mandy Lyon

My name is Mandy Lyon, and this is my 23nd year of teaching.  I taught at the elementary level for 15 years before moving to Petal High School to teach inclusion and support students in English.  I earned my Associate's degree from Jones Junior College, my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from the University of Southern Mississippi, and my Master's degree in Special Education from William Carey University.  

My husband, Mark, and I are originally from Laurel, MS, but Petal has been our home since 1998.  Our two children, Mason and Margaret Ann, keep life busy and fun.  If we aren't at a USM ballgame, hanging at the softball field, or watching a volleyball match, we enjoy watching movies, going to the beach, and spending time with our family and friends.  Oh, and I can't forget to mention our little ball of fur, Bandit, and our new Labradoodle, Annie!

Teaching is something I wanted to do since I was a little girl, so I feel that I am fulfilling my calling.  I believe that all students have special gifts and talents.  I am motivated and challenged each day to help my students discover and use their gifts and talents to be the best person they can be in and outside the classroom.
