Bachelor's degree in mathematics from The University of Southern Mississippi, with a Master’s of Education degree (emphasis mathematics) and an Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership.
Mrs. Stephanie Brewer
Mrs. Stephanie Brewer received a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with a computer science minor from the University of Southern Mississippi. She also received a Master of Education with an emphasis in mathematics and a specialist degree in educational leadership from the University of Southern Mississippi.
Mrs. Brewer began her career in Ocean Springs. She served as a high school mathematics teacher for nine years. She then moved to Gulfport, her hometown, where she taught mathematics, including Advanced Placement Calculus, served as the high school curriculum specialist, and as the district mathematics curriculum specialist. For almost three decades, she has been an advocate for improving instruction (especially in mathematics) and making children of Mississippi successful.
In addition to teaching math on the high school level, she has taught adjunct at both Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and at the University of Southern Mississippi. Mrs. Brewer currently serves as a math curriculum consultant throughout the state and has served on numerous committees, councils and panels dealing with mathematics instruction. She has been a part of the Mississippi Mathematics Framework Writing team for the last three iterations.
Mrs. Brewer began serving as an Assistant Superintendent in Petal School District in May of 2013. She has many passions that drive her to help children, teachers and schools to reach levels of success that they find difficult to imagine. She is passionate about mathematics and the way that it is taught. She is passionate about helping children in poverty understand the importance of education and the steps to achieve their goals. She is passionate about helping the gifted and advanced students to reach their potential. She is passionate about helping English Language Learners to assimilate English while preserving their own language and culture. Most importantly, she is passionate about helping the community and nation understand what an invaluable service our educators perform for our country.
