    Course Goals:
     
    • To meet or exceed the standards set forth by the MS Department of Education for English II.
    • To analytically read non-fiction and fiction for a variety of purposes.
    • To effectively write fiction and non-fiction for a variety of purposes and audiences.
    • To become critical consumers of all forms of communication, both written and verbal, in order to become better readers, writers, speakers, and thinkers.
       
    Helpful Information

    Grading Details:

    • Tests and essays account for 70% of the student's average;

    • Daily grades account for 30%.

    A: 90-100

    B: 80-89

    C: 70-79

    D: 65-69

    F: 0-64


    Sample grade calculation

    A student has the following daily grades: 100, 90, 85, 90, and 100.  

    • If she makes an 88 on an essay assignment.  Her average would be 89.5.

    • If she makes a 50 by turning in an incomplete or inappropriate essay assignment.  Her average would then be 63.

    • If she makes a 0 by not turning in an assignment or turning in a plagiarized assignment.  Her average would then be a 28.
