Catherine Billingsley, M.Ed., LDT
Special Services Teacher
Hello, and Welcome to Petal High School. I have been an educator for 23 years. I began teaching at Forrest County AHS as a Special Education teacher. I taught in Lamar County at Purvis Middle School and Lamar County Alternative School, then at Oak Grove High School before coming to the Petal School District. I have been teaching at Petal High School for 20 years. For the majority of my years at Petal High School, I have been an Inclusion teacher helping in the area of Math, from Pre-Algebra to Algebra II; and Science, from Biology to Physical Science. I am currently working with reading remediation, and Science.
I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Special Education from the University of Southern Miss. I have recently completed my Master's of Education in Dylexia Therapy from William Carey University.
I look forward to meeting my new students and seeing my returning students each year.
I believe that if students learn math, and learn to read, given the time and good work ethic, they can learn ANYTHING they WANT to learn. I believe they need encouragement from all sides - home, community, and school - to learn, grow, and rise to their potential. I believe "it takes a village" to raise a child who can help build a better world.
