Karen Fordham

WELCOME to 6th grade STaR!! My name is Karen Fordham and this is my 17th year in the classroom.  This is my 12th year to teach 6th grade science at Petal Upper Elementary. I graduated from William Carey University with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in reading.  I have a Master's Degree from William Carey in Elementary Education and I am National Board Certified in Science grades 6-9.  I am married to Gary and we have twin sons, Luke(Dana) and Landon, and a daughter, Haley (Hunter).  I have three adorable grandchildren, Bentley and Brileigh, and Hadley.  My loyal sidekick is Daisey, a miniature dachshund.  I enjoy reading, working puzzles, and spending time with my family.  I am excited about the school year and I hope you are too!  We will be learning many new concepts through reading, writing, songs, labs, demonstrations, and projects in the areas of Life science, Earth and Space science, and Physical science.   A specific focus for the year will be teaching our students to independently take notes, as well as proficiently read nonfiction texts. Please don't ever hesitate to contact me if you need me! email or 601-584-7660.
