Mrs. Jennifer Delatte
Greetings! I am Mrs. Delatte and I teach 4th grade math. I am a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT). This is my 14th year to teach. Every year brings new experiences and fun learning adventures. I’ve taught second and third grade. This is my first year in 4th grade!!
I was born and practically raised in Hattiesburg. We currently live there, but are looking to move to Petal. My husband's name is David Delatte, jr. He is a Polymer Chemist/Team Leader at USM. He is totally a outdoors kinda guy. Hunting, fishing, and general upkeep of 'The Farm' (located outside of Richton, MS) are his hobbies. We have a beautiful daughter, Daley, that is our pride and joy. We struggled for may years to have a family and she is our blessing.
I have many hobbies, but most importantly I LOVE to read. There is nothing like curling up with a good book. I also enjoy upcycling stuff and turning junk into treasure. I’ve discovered Annie Sloan chalk paint… LOVE IT!
Gardening is another passion that I have. Each year David, Daley, and I grow many different veggies in our garden at our home in Hattiesburg. I spend time during the summer canning and pickling so we can enjoy our goodies from the garden throughout the winter. I also enjoy cooking new recipes, where I get my collecting of cookbooks from. I especially love the cookbooks put together by churches and various organizations. You just can't beat tried and true recipes.
1. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, tea from Wendy’s, half sweet and half unsweet. Wait, did I say how much I love tea from Wendy’s. HA!
2. I DO NOT like chocolate.
3. I collect owl figurines for my classroom.
4. My favorite color is cerulean blue.
5. My lucky number is 7, the same day I was born on in February.
I graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2004 with a bachelors degree in Elementary Education K-8 with additional emphasis in Remedial Reading, Social Studies, and Child Psychology.
I received my masters degree from USM July of 2008 as a Reading Specialist/Literacy Coach, which is endorsed by the International Reading Association (IRA).
I have been fortunate to attend Harvard University in Boston, MA and participate in Project Zero. I worked along many great leaders in the educatinal field.
I am grateful for all of the educational and professional experiences that have helped shape and mold me into the teacher I am today.
A wise woman once told me that, "True teachers are not made; they are called." I feel truly blessed that God bestowed the calling in me.
