Ms. Emily Mitchell

Hi everyone! My name is Emily Mitchell, and I am a first-year ELA teacher! I received my Bachelor's degree in Mid-level Education from Arkansas State University in May 2022. I'm originally from Southaven, MS, but I moved to Hattiesburg to live with my little sister. I am so blessed to start my teaching journey here at Petal Middle School! I have already learned so much, and I can't wait to continue growing with my students.

Some fun facts about me:

♥ I am a crazy cat lady! I currently have four cats: Otis, Peaches, Charmander, and Petunia.

♥ My favorite place is the beach, so the move to south Mississippi has been great for my sand and salt water addiction.

This year in 8th grade ELA, we will be tackling 5 mentor texts, and an array of secondary texts. We will develop our writer's voice through various writing assignments, including a "This I Believe" essay and our own TED Talks! I am so excited to see the knowledge and creativity of each of my students.
