I just want to start by saying how EXCITED I am to be part of such an incredible, supportive, and welcoming community like Petal Primary! I am so excited to have the opportunity to work with these amazing first grade students and be part of their learning journey this year. First grade is such an amazing time for students to learn and grow into lifelong learners.I look forward to getting to know more about everyone this school year. It is so important to me that our classroom community includes my students’ families as well! I cannot wait to meet everyone and share some important information about our classroom at “Meet the Teacher.”  In the meantime, I thought I would take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself.

I am originally from a small town in Georgia, south of Atlanta.  I spent four years at The University of Alabama. (ROLL TIDE) After completing my student teaching in New Zealand, I graduated with my Bachelor’s in Elementary Education. Soon after, I moved to the Gulf Coast where I took a teaching position at D’Iberville Elementary School. I have taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade throughout my teaching career. I started my teaching experience here in Petal in 2nd grade and this will be my second year in 1st grade! I also graduated from University of Southern Mississippi in 2018 with my Masters in Education Administration and Leadership. I am married to my wonderful husband of almost five years, Chris. Chris works as the Digital Content Manager at WDAM. Chris and I do not have any children of our own, but we do have two beautiful godchildren. Kaydence is six years old and the older of the two, and Trenton is the baby of the pair, and he is a big and quickly growing four. We also welcomed my second nephew this past April, Lyle Lewis! He is absolutely perfect, and the best little brother to the sweet two-year-old that made me Aunt Mo, Timothy Copelan. They are both perfect, but I may be just a little bias. 😊 However, we are proud parents of the world’s most spoiled dog, Sadie Mae. We love spending time with our little family. When we are not at work, we like to spend time camping, watching movies, or just enjoying the company of our family and friends.
