"Tell me and I forget.

Teach me and I remember.

Involve me and I learn."

~Benjamin Franklin

Hello everyone! I am excited to be teaching your child at Petal Elementary School!

My name is Charlsie Godshaw. My husband, Michael, and I have three wonderful children together, Tyler, Emily Grace, and Haley Claire. We attend Petal Harvey Baptist Church. We enjoy playing soccer together, riding bikes, playing wii dance, and just spending time together. We've lived in Petal for several years now. We have fallen in love with this city and all the people in it.

I am originally from Vicksburg, MS. Early on I knew I wanted to become a teacher. My dream started when my fourth grade teacher showed me a new way of learning. She involved me in the learning process. It made learning fun and attainable for this struggling student. I pursued my dream when I attended William Carey University. I graduated with my Bachelors Degree in 2012.

I have worked in several schools in the Pine-Belt. I started as an assistant teacher at Oak Grove Primary where I taught Kindergarten and 1st grade. This experience led me to William Carey where I pursued my dream of becoming a teacher. Then I began my certified teaching career in Perry County where I taught 3rd and 4th grade. In the 2017-2018 school year, I was awarded Teacher of the Year at South Perry Elementary School. My career aspirations then led me to Petal in 2018 where I teach 4th grade ELA.  I love being a Petal Panther!

I am extremely excited to have the opportunity to teach your child in the 4th grade as we grow and learn together!
