PERKS Partners
Petal Perks is an exclusive employee benefit program offered by the Petal School District for the 2025–26 school year. Available to all district staff, this program provides a wide array of discounts and special offers at local businesses throughout Petal and nearby Hattiesburg.
To receive these discounts, employees must present their district ID badge at participating businesses.

Substitute Teacher Training
- All persons interested in substituting in the Petal School District (PSD) must attend a training session conducted by PSD. Trainings are scheduled three times per year in July, August and January. The dates for the training sessions are posted on the PSD website one month ahead of time.
- All new substitutes must meet the following qualifications:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have 48 hours of college credit or a passing score on the WorkKeys test
- Required tests are:
- Reading for Information
- Applied Mathematics
- Writing or Business Writing
- OR WorkKeys Silver Level certification
- Required tests are:
- Complete substitute training conducted by PSD
- Veteran Substitutes and Retired PSD teachers are exempt from training
- Veteran Substitutes are those who substituted for least 10 days in the previous school year.
- Veteran Substitutes and Retired PSD teachers are exempt from training
- Submit to a complete background check performed by the PSD Police Dept.
