The Petal Education Foundation has published, “Once Upon a Time-less Recipe Cookbook.” The book not only contains mouthwatering recipes but anecdotes along with funny and sentimental stories from students, teachers and others affiliated with school life. The last section, “Teacher Treasure Trove,” contains recipes for teacher gifts, participatory food activities for very young children and quickie recipes teachers and families can use for school projects.
Artwork for the cover was created by 2009 Petal graduate, Ethan Manning. Recipe dividers are the drawings of Petal Primary 2nd graders and Petal Upper Elementary students. A brief history of the Petal School District as well as information about the Petal Education Foundation is included. Favorite recipes from school board members, superintendents; present and former, as well as principals, teachers and alumni are shared in this book for this endeavor.

In an effort to raise funds the Foundation, a group of dedicated, retired Petal School District teachers volunteered to organize, solicit recipes and gather stories for the cookbook. We also shared hours of laughs and memories of some 435 plus cumulative years of teaching experiences.

Cookbooks can be ordered by contacting the Petal Education Foundation, P. O. Box 948, Petal, Mississippi, 39465. Cost of the cookbook is $20 plus $5 for shipping and handling per book.
