Hello PES families,
The last few weeks have been anything but normal for our school, community, state or world. The way we do school has drastically changed over the past few weeks, but I know one thing for sure, our children are still engaged in high quality assignments through our At Home Learning Plan. I am so proud of our families who have juggled work, school, and family obligations. The teacher-parent relationship is more important now than ever before. We appreciate how each one of you have embraced this new way of learning and have partnered with us to make sure our students continue to receive a true Petal Panther education.
As most of you know, Gov. Tate Reeves announced yesterday that our school buildings will be closed for the remainder of the year. This was not the message any of us wanted to hear. We miss our students and the memories we would have made, but we are thankful for the ability to communicate virtually. Personally, I have enjoyed each social media post of our students and the activities they are engaged in during this time.
Even though our buildings are closed, learning is still happening each day with our At Home Learning Plan. Thank you, parents for all you've done to juggle home and school! You are fabulous! We have enjoyed partnering with each of you to meet the needs of our kids. Weekly lessons will continue to be uploaded each Friday in your child’s Google Classroom and on the district website. Weekly paper packets will be available beginning each Friday morning in tubs at our front door. Our goal will continue to be engagement and communication as we close out this school year. We will continue keeping you informed as new information is released through our school website, Facebook page and School Status messages.
Finally, please know while we desperately miss the face to face interactions with our students each day, we are so thankful that learning will continue. At any time you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher or our office. We are working remotely from home and school phones are forwarded, so we can continue to be a resource for our families. Our theme of Better Together could not be more appropriate for our school year. We truly are “Better Together” as teachers, students and parents have worked together learning each and every day.
Wyn Mims, Principal
Hello, everyone! Normally, I would be welcoming you back to school from a restful Spring Break. Well, the last week has been anything but normal, and the next few weeks are promising to be quite different as well. Over the past week, we have been very busy getting ready to kick off our At-Home learning Plan. Even though our school buildings are closed, our teachers have planned some exciting adventures for you over the next three weeks. This week we have passed out Chromebooks and paper packets. Lessons will begin on Monday, March 30, so whether you are going to use an electronic device or paper packet, be sure you communicate with your teacher each week if you have any questions. We sure miss you at school everyday, but it is very important to us for you and your families to remain healthy and safe. Stay tuned to the PES facebook page each morning at 7:35 for our Good morning message! We will also be posting fun activities throughout the week for you to respond and let us know how you are! Our school office hours are Monday - Friday from 9am - 1pm, but if you need something after hours, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We hope to see everyone back at school very soon, but until then read everyday, practice your math facts, and be the I in Kind! Have a great week!
