Assistant Chief Clay Johnson

Clay Johnson is 48 years old and is a School Resource Officer for the Petal School Police Department. He currently resides in Petal, MS with his wife Latisha of 26 years and he has 3 children, 2 sons and 1 daughter. Officer Johnson graduated from Fort McClellan Al. Military Police Law Enforcement Training Academy in 1991. After serving 9 years as a Military Police Officer in the Army National Guard, Officer Johnson transitioned into local law enforcement. In 2008 Officer Johnson worked for The Petal Police Department as a patrolman. In Early 2010 Officer Johnson started his career as a School Resource Officer with The Lamar County School District Police Department. While at Lamar County, he became a Certified K-9 handler, and for five years Officer Johnson, and K-9 Sedea worked very hard to minimize the presence of narcotics within the District. In January of 2016 Officer Johnson started with The Petal School Police Department and is assigned to Petal High School. He was promoted to Assistant Chief in June of 2021!
