    Throughout the school year, I will post information that will be beneficial to you as parents.
     
     
     
     
     

    The Petal Children's Task Force offers many services including, but not limited to, the following:

    For families with children(under 16) in the Petal School District-

    Food Assistance  Once every 30 days.
    School Uniforms* Usually, once per school year
    (may trade in shorts for long pants
    in winter, e.g.)
    School Supplies  When available.
    Medical/Dental/
    Optical
     Funds available as needed for
    assistance.
    Utility Assistance
    (partial payment)
     Once every 6 months. *Funds very
    limited* given on first come, first 
    served basis.
    Thanksgiving**  Food boxes (does not count as 
    food assistance for the month)
    Christmas**  Available for children under 16.

    Designed to meet the growing needs of the Petal community, the Petal School District’s Center for Families and Children offers a coordinated cluster of community resources and services in an accessible “one-stop” family support center. As a certified Excel By 5 community, Petal strives to provide families of pre-school age children with the support and resources needed to insure that their children enter kindergarten healthy, happy and eager to learn.

    Families with pre-school age children:

    • Welcome Packets

    • Home Visit Parenting Program - Parents as Teachers

    • Parent Workshops

    • Developmental Screenings (speech/language/hearing/vision)       

    • Early Interventionist

    • Family Support Agency Referral

    • Educational Toy Lending Library

    • Playshops

    • Dolly Parton Imagination Library

    • Kids’ Health Fair

    • Resources for Child Care Providers

    • C.H. Johnson Head Start Program (available for three and four year olds)

    • C.H. Johnson Early Head Start Program (available for 8 weeks to three years) 

     

    Families with school-age children:

    • Educational Resources Check-Out Program

    • Big Brothers/Big Sisters Mentoring Program

    • Kids’ Health Fair

    • Computer Lab 

     

    Adults in the family:

    • Parenting Resources (available for families to check out)

    • Directory of and Referral to Family Support Agencies

    • Parent Workshops

    • Computer Lab

    • A Community Workroom (provides access to an

       ellison die cutter and laminator for special projects)

    Mondays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays 8:00 - 4:30

    Tuesdays 8:00 - 6:00

    Fridays 8:00 - 3:30
